Tributes paid to Compass Christian Centre Instructor

Tributes have been paid to Compass Christian Centre instructor Joe Pancaldi who was found dead in the lower half of Raven Gully on Buachaille Etive Mor recently. Mr Pancaldi was on holiday in Glencoe when the accident happened,

Mr Pancaldi, originally from Colchester, Essex, moved to Glenshee two years ago to work as a trainee instructor for the Compass Christian Centre at Glenshee Lodge, Perthshire.

The centre manager Ruth McBean described Joe as inspirational, bright, joyful and compassionate. She added that he brought joy to so many people in his short lifetime.

The centre, based close to Blairgowrie, hosts youth and church groups which can take part in activities including climbing, abseiling, kayaking, skiing and archery.

Ruth McBean described Joe Pancaldi as “an amazing young man who was very passionate about life and was loved by his colleagues and guests alike".

Having grown up in a Christian family from Essex he wanted to have the opportunity to combine his two passions in life – his faith and the outdoors. He came to the centre just under two years ago to become a trainee outdoors instructor and, through his skilled leadership and instruction, hundreds of young people have enjoyed the excitement and challenge of the outdoors in Scotland. He was enthusiastic about everything he did, a great role model and team player with a great sense of fun. His Christian faith was both strong and contagious.

According to Ruth McBean, “This, along with his love for God and people, made him stand out from the crowd – an exceptional person and one who was admired by all who met him.”

Inverclyde to host major revival conference in November

PRESS RELEASE

Inverclyde to host major revival conference in November

Inverclyde is playing host to a major Christian revival conference which will be centred at Greenock's Town Hall from 25th to 27th November. Between 500 and 1000 delegates are anticipated from various parts of the world including the USA and Europe and from all over Scotland. Already over 350 delegates have registered to attend from 10 countries.

The conference has been planned by Canadian Christian organisation www.sermonindex.net, a ministry which sets out to promote genuine Christian revival, in conjunction with local group Inverclyde Christian Initiative and a large number of acclaimed national and international speakers will speak at the conference including:-

Carter Conlon - Pastor Carter Conlon joined Pastor David Wilkerson at Times Square Church in 1994, and he has been serving as senior pastor since 2001. In addition to ministering at Times Square Church, the Lord has burdened Pastor Carter to reach out to the spiritually needy around the world.

Colin Peckham - Colin was born in South Africa and was engaged in evangelism and convention ministry there for ten years. For the last seventeen years he has been Principal of The Faith Mission Bible College in Edinburgh, Scotland. He emphasises a life of total commitment and holy living in the power of the Holy Spirit, and challenges men and women to seek God in the interests of revival.

Speaking from Canada, Greg Gordon of sermonindex said, 'Will God send another great awakening? Can revival still change nations? There are over 10,000 conferences that happen every year. This 'Revival Conference' is not to be just another conference but a honest, sincere, earnest plea for the desperate need of revival across the nations. The event will be a simple, apostolic, yearning for a genuine biblical revival in our day, hosted by the ministry of sermonindex.net and is a interdenominational event'.

Fraser Donaldson of the Inverclyde Christian Initiative added, 'For some time now we have been meeting together on a regular basis to seek revival in Inverclyde and beyond. In addition, over the years, many local churches have been praying for God to bring revival here. We believe that this event could be a very significant one in bringing about a Christian awakening on a scale not seen in our land for years. So many people are looking for answers these days, days in which traditional and God given values are being eroded at great speed, and we are asking God through this conference to let His presence be known in this part of Scotland in great power, power which brings about great changes in peoples' lives and their well being.'

More information on the conference is available from www.revivalconference.com
